I tried on dresses at David's Bridal over the weekend. I went by myself. I brought my camera and laptop. I guess the traditional wedding industry hasn't completely embraced all the digital world has to offer. The sales lady looked at me like I was crazy when I started showing her dresses I liked from my laptop. My appointment was at 10:00AM. I arrived 5 minutes early and had to stand in the vestibule while they glared at their watches, waiting for the clock to strike ten. An older lady told me tales of how a man worked there and zipped her up. She felt violated and left like telling me about it. I immediately didn't like my sales person. She just didn't seem to care enough. She could have used some basic customer service training. Anyway, I warmed up to her after a while but I guess that is what happens when a women compliments you every few minutes to try to get you to purchase a dress (and accessories, alterations, and whatever else they can get you for). I think some of the other women who were working were surprised I didn't have an army of opinions women with me. It was nice being at the store by myself without other brides fighting for the mirror. One family even sort of adopted me an hour or so into my fitting when their future bride started trying on dresses. So here are some pictures-- I'd love to have opinions.
I'm wearing a plus-sized gown (actually a size smaller than I thought I would be). I had gastric bypass surgery a few years ago and had lost a lot of weight. I've gained some of it back so I have been feeling down about myself. I'm hoping I will loose 30 lbs over the next year for my wedding. I almost don't want to buy a dress yet because of it-- but who really looses all the weight anyway?
This one was one of the bests:
Left to Right- front view with wrap, back with wrap, train view and side view.
I've sat with the David's Bridal catalog and tried finding this dress on their website. I can't figure out the style or the price. I had been set on a gown with pick-ups but it has not been that flattering to my body. I didn't think this one was half bad, although it may be too white. The black sash really gave me some shape but I don't think it looks as good as the 4 shots above.
I also liked this one. Feel free to click any of the images and leave a comment on Flickr. Also, I'd love to see some comments here. I would love some feedback.
