An Appropriate Beginning...

So, I keep meaning to discuss the new Harry Potter, movie. I've been putting it off for whatever reason (my own procrastinator's nature is really explanation enough), so now I've forgotten a lot of the details as that was Wednesday and it's now Sunday. The gist of it? It wasn't half bad (ACCIDENTAL PUN, DAMNIT). I wasn't forced to sit through a lot of Harry/Ginny bullshit, and the *sniffle* stuff with Dumbledore was appropriately depressing. Really, really depressing. Like to the point where I was sort of shocked they can still squeak by with calling it a kid flick.

I think it's probably fortunate that it's been so long since I've read the books as now I can be objective and not quibble over details. Tonight watching True Blood (FANDOM SWITCH!) made me remember what a bad idea it can be. Seriously, WTF?! Godric, that little... yeah... as ERIC'S MAKER?!?!?!?! FML that so pissed me off. Though I can't hate on the show, honestly, because it gave me back Lafayette. Or more gave him to me to begin with. He was little more than a blurb and cannon fodder in the book, so I have to give the show due props. He's one of my favorite characters of all times, so I'm willing to look the other way while the completely ass-rape that bit of the book.

Anyway, back to Potter. My only big fat issue? That ending. So anti-climactic and random. But I'm used to the movies having stupid, shit endings. I hope the last one will be fab just on pure principal, but I'll likely hate it if I make myself sit through the epilogue bit. Guh, yuck. Fucking fangirls must have crawled into J.K.'s ear and laid eggs or something. Ok, I just grossed myself out with my own analogy.

Moving on,

Um, in conclusion, straying away from the canon set aside in books sucks. Except when it doesn't.

fangirl, thoughts, southern vampire series, harry potter, true blood
