The Japan Foundation, Manila have been hosting Japanese Film Festival "Eiga Sai" in the Philippines for years. This film festival features free screening of selected Japanese movies.

In the previous years, the screening venues were only available in Metro Manila: Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong, UP Film Institute in Quezon City and CCP Complex in Pasay. But this year is different. Filipinos who live in Baguio, Cebu and Davao cities, as well as those from the neighbouring towns, can now watch the Eiga Sai as The Japan Foundation, Manila opens screening in Gaisano South City Mall in Davao City, Ayala Center Cinema 4 in Cebu City, and Baguio Center Cinema Mall in Baguio City.

This will help achieve the goal of the Foundation: To bolster further the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan by continuously providing an opportunity for Filipinos to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Japanese arts and culture explored in this medium.

Eiga Sai (literally means "film festival") will run from July 2-12, 2009 in Shangri-La Plaza, August 14-20 in UP Film Institute, July 18 and 19 in Davao, July 28 to August 2 in Cebu, and August 7-11 in Baguio.
