I had a dream about Jo last night.
She lived by the sea, in a small cottage. There was a bronze statue standing out on a headland of some brave fisherman who had been lost at sea. Might have represented an actual person, or just been the Ideal of the brave-fisherman-lost-at-sea. I don't know. Anyway, an hour before dawn, every day, she would sneak out there to the headland and the statue would come to life. They were lovers. At dawn, the statue would climb back up onto his pedestal and turn to metal again, just as the sun's rays struck him.
I wrote an email to her to tell her about the dream. She replied that she was in Panama, looking at statuary in Ciudad Viejo, but that she had not encountered this particular statue.
