oh don't worry, you have every right to ask questions like this without sounding bitchy.

well it mostly depends on the person. i myself usually say stuff like 'font clashes with the background' and so on. i'm sure that once you get the votes you can see more clearly how people actually vote. by saying 'vote according to quality' above all means that people shouldn't say stuff like 'ugly' or 'boring', but pay more attention to technical aspects- how's the colouring? cropping? font/text? etc.

and of course a fair amount of personal opinion will be reflected in a persons vote, but using phrases like 'i think' or 'in my opinion' should be avoided. i usually think about the reason WHY i don't like a certain icon i.e. is the colouring odd (maybe blue or something) or perhaps it's too sharp or even blurry. and those are completely valid reasons and i don't have to use 'i think' or 'to me it seems' or something.

and once the voting is over (on wednesday) i will post the results with the number of votes each icon got and then you can comment there with your icon number and i'll reply with your comments in a screened post.
