Those Ayn Rand moments - #1

Feb 02, 2006 08:14

The thing about reading a book like Atlas Shrugged is that pretty soon you start noticing moments in life that speak directly to Rand's argument.

For example, one recurring motif in AS it that of incompetents being deemed worthy by reason of their track record of failure. Which brings me to this statement, made with a straight face on Monday, by an otherwise very reasonable acquaintance of mine.

(While discussing another chap) "He sold up and moved to America, where he founded a series of companies, all of which went bust. So, there's nothing he doesn't know about running a business."

I’m off to testify before a Parliamentary committee later - I suspect there may be another Ayn Rand moment in the offing.
