Alumni Weekend

Apr 23, 2006 23:13

I arrived at Phil and Jason's place around 2 a.m. (I think) on Friday morning. Needless to say, Phil and I slept in Friday. (Phil waited up for me to get in.)

I can't really remember most of Friday (I was still pretty tired, not having gotten much sleep recently), but I do remember pizza at Grace's Place, Annie's party, and a few other things that need not be mentioned.

Well... the leather pants didn't arrive on time, due to Victoria not using the correct form at the post office (most likely). So, there went my Trinity costume for the movie-character-Psi-alumni-costume party. So, I dug deep into my closet and came up with Laney Boggs from She's All That. I think it went okay.

Saturday we (Meredith, Jason, Phil, and I) went to the alumni lunch and the Looking for an Echo reunion, and later that day attended the alumni cabin party, and Acapella Carnivella (excellent, but hot as balls in the alumni gym).

Wait, now I'm beginning to remember more of Friday. Annie and I went shopping and then to FOTQ. There was no vegetarian food at FOTQ. That was really my only complaint from the weekend; everything else was great.

Phil was supposed to introduce me to his friends Saturday night, but that sort of fell through. Jason had a good idea, though, that we meet at a more subdued location (they were clubbing in Blacksburg). I have to say that I liked his suggestion.

I just got off the phone with Ryan #2. Apparently his trip has gotten delayed even further and he'll be going on some smaller excursions before the big one. That means he won't be back until January or February, most likely. Ah, the life of a submariner. I plan on writing more this time - or at least on a somewhat consistent basis, instead of sporadic e-mails here and there.

I found my dictionary of theorems. It has led me to a Descartes writing that I'd like to look into - Les passions de l'acme. Phil determined that we are, in fact, nerds. I think that was made obvious by the fact that I own a dictionary of theorems.

Edited because I somehow left out Sunday. I was really tired last night.

Sunday was another lazy, sleep-in kind of day. I met Cat for lunch and then went to the Moore for tissue paper and ribbon and ended up purchasing stencils as well. I think I want to start embossing again. I need less hobbies. Maybe that way I would stick with one longer.

After wrapping Annie's graduation present, I headed over to the Senior Art Show. I spent about an hour and a half there and then hit the road. Knowing I'd be later than I intended, I called Tins and let her know (we were supposed to study Spanish). I arrived at Todd's place at maybe a quarter past 6 and we did two intense hours of studying. It was funny, because one of the things that she was looking at was affirmative tu commands - something Phil and I were discussing earlier. Phil was correct. For some reason I was thinking of the negative commands which employ use of the subjunctive. And venir is irregular in the affirmative tu command - ven. Apparently my years of Spanish were wasted. Maybe I'm not the best person to tutor someone else. Then again, we didn't really use command forms because we were taught that they were impolite, even if followed with "por favor".

Anyway, the tutoring went alright and I got back home in time to eat some dinner (sushi) and play some KOL. I now own a 17-pound mosquito. Good times.
