this girl totally left me in the dust today! i'm grunting my way up a hill and she sedately pedals past me as if there WERE NO HILL. she won. but i was wearing a helmet and she wasn't, so i won. but her hair was such a beautiful golden blond mass so she won, because me hair is crap. and we were riding on the road and not the sidewalk, so we both won, according to some people! no, she definitely won, she totally smoked my ass.

what a beautiful day! a nice day to feel the sun on my pallid anemic skull face and white-as-clear arms. a nice day to eat sunlight in both directions. why is every day so great and so sad at the same time? why does it make me sad when i do the right thing? why do i bother to do the right thing?

"The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist: a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain."

Ursual K. Le Guin
"The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas"

she asks the question, if you could secure happiness for yourself through the suffering of one innocent individual, would you do it? but the question is irrelevant, because we destroy millions of lives for our happiness and we all end up being miserable as hell anyway. one person? try endless seas of individuals.

if darwinism is correct and we are here because we (our genetic materials) have temporarily won the eternal fight for scarce resources, what the fuck does it matter that we kill each other? if it's survival of the fittest, and you weren't fast or fit enough to to build big guns, then why should we care?

but where does that leave americans? if we are all caught in the beautiful struggle (it is so beautiful i ache), then how can we trust our government to take care of us? aren't they at the top of the food chain? aren't they fattening us up for the slaughter? can i trust you? you protect me with guns and bombs, but at what point will you turn them on me? when the govt kills people, why don't they at least eat them? who's right? is it altruism or a sense of propriety that leads the govt to protect its citizens? c'mon HELP ME THINK ABOUT THIS.
