Gas Price: $3.57/gallon

Dropped off the recyclables at the rural drop-off. Glad to get that done.

Was woken up by lightning and thunder this morning. About 1 am, I was jarred awake, and I went around and checked to see if any windows were open.

Was raining still when I got up this morning. Mom said it was a very cold rain.

Took a look at chest freezers at Home Depot. We had one in the old garage, but we hadn't replaced it yet. We want a new one to freeze surplus veggies from our garden, or buy stuff on sale to keep in it. (and to have room for larger items.) It'd be nice to get some more stuff from the schwan's guy when he come around.

Anyway, the five cubic foot model was around $180, the seven cubic foot model was around $230. I also didn't realize that there were upright freezer models. But those are more expensive.

Time for bed. *hugs*

She paid this year's predial taxes.

Word of the Day for Saturday August 13, 2011

predial • \PREE-dee-ul\  • adjective
: of or relating to land or its products

Did you know?
"Predial" is used for land matters; for example, there's "predial tax" (real estate tax) or "predial larceny" (stealing crops from the fields). The state of Louisiana employs "predial" in numerous sections of its Civil Code (and is distinguished from other states by its use of the word). The word derives from the Latin noun for "landed property," "praedium." "Praedium" in turn is based on "praed-," meaning "bondsman" -- that is, one who is legally liable for the debt of another.
