K is for Kids (Stargate Atlantis Alphabet series)
It was one of the first worlds Atlantis had visited. One of the first peoples they’d helped.
M7G-677 was a world where nobody had lived past 24. The cultural belief - mistaken - was that it would keep the Wraith away.
When Atlantis had found them, the wrongness of that belief had been revealed, and the practice had been banned.
That was also one of the first worlds Atlantis had re-visited after Rodney’s and John’s powers had come on-line. Not knowing what their reception would be, Teyla spoke with the natives while John and Rodney hung back.
After listening, the Council came outside and the leader asked to see a practical demonstration of their abilities.
Still unsure what would happen, John and Rodney complied. Rodney made a miniature crystal Jumper, and John made it fly.
The kids adored it.
They had returned to M7G-677 many times since. Each time was productive and happy.
But today? Today’s visit was extra special.
Today the leader became thirty years old.
