SUMMARY: The angels show up at the Winchesters' motel room to see if they're okay after the reversed brothers' encounter with Wrath.

Sam Winchester woke to the unmistakeable feeling of eyes on him. He rolled over and frowned deeply at the figure seated on the end of his bed. "Okay....what are you doing here?"

Loki smiled and bit the end off a red licorice rope. "What, I can't check up on you every now and again?"

"This is you, Loki. You set me and Dean t'fightin'."

"Anybody ever tell you you've got this really pronounced drawl when you first wake up?"

"Yes."

Loki chuckled. "Okay. Believe me, don't believe me, at this point I don't care. But I really was just checking up on you. Making certain Wrath hadn't left any nasty surprises in your psyche."

Sam sat up, grinding the heel of his palm against one jade eye. "Did he?"

"I don't know," Loki admitted. "You woke up before I could."

"How do you check?" Sam asked, leaning against the headboard. "Is that a Trickster thing or an angel thing?"

Loki smiled. "An angel thing. And no, you're not going to know my true name, so don't ask."

"You're good." Sam frowned. "Dean -- why didn't Dean wake up?"

"I'm keeping him asleep," a familiar voice answered. Sam looked over to find Castiel -- dressed in jeans and a henley that might or might not have been lifted from Dean's duffel -- smiling softly at him. The perpetual bedhead was worse than usual, causing Sam to huff a quiet laugh.

"You just roll Jimmy out of bed?" he quipped.

"Pretty much," Castiel admitted with a chuckle of his own.

Sam returned his smile, then asked, "So why are you keeping him asleep?"

"To scan him as well," Castiel replied. "If you remain asleep, it is painless."

"I take it if I'm awake, then --?"

Loki shrugged. "Sorry, kiddo." And he sounded it.

Sam sighed and glanced over to where Castiel's fingers were carding almost paternally through Dean's short, slightly wavy chocolate-coloured hair. He looked back up at Loki. "Could you put me back to sleep and do it, then?"

"I can," Loki said, snapping his fingers and banishing the detrius of his snacking. "But I didn't want to without you knowing what was going on."

Sam nodded slowly. "Go ahead, then, Loki."

"Here we go." Loki touched two fingertips to Sam's forehead and watched the large jade eyes flutter closed. He lay the taller form down flat onto the bed, then looked over at Castiel. "On three?"

"On three," Castiel replied. "One."

"Two," they chorused.

"Three." And both angels sank their hands into their sleeping charges' chests.
