Cooper spent the better part of the weekend gathering what he needed. When Monday rolled around, he drove to the Winchesters' house.
Smiling to see the Impala in the driveway, he got out of the car and pulled a folder out of the packet in his passenger seat.
Dean opened the door in response to his knock. His hands moved.
Cooper smiled. "Too early to talk, huh?" At Dean's sheepish nod, Cooper chuckled. "Fortunately..." 'I understand ASL.'
Dean's face lit. 'Come in.'
Sammy yawned his way down the stairs and blinked to see their company. "Mister Cooper! Is something wrong?"
"No -- why would you think that?"
Sammy shook his head. "Sorry. It's just... the few visitors we get seem to be people who need our help."
Cooper cocked an eyebrow, and his expression turned into a frown as Dean's nod confirmed it.
So. Kind-hearted kids who got very few visitors, and those who came wanted things from them.
That would have to change.
Cooper blinked, realising that Dean had asked him something. "I'm sorry, Dean, could you repeat that? I was thinking too hard and missed what you said."
Dangerous habit, Dean teased. Anything to drink?
"Yes, please. Juice or sweet tea, if you've got any."
Dean blinked at him, then shook his head. Mouth full of sweet teeth, he teased.
"So I've been told," Cooper laughed.
As Cooper sipped his juice while the boys made breakfast, he got down to the reason for his visit. "It struck me this week, Dean, finding you asleep at your desk, that you need a break."
Dean shook his head.
"So," Cooper plowed right on. "I called in a few favours and here." He slid the folder over to Sammy.
"What's this?" Sammy asked, opening the packet.
"Itinerary for an all-expenses paid vacation to the Grand Canyon," Cooper grinned. "Four days and three nights -- over Christmas. You'll be home in time for New Year's."
All paid? Dean signed, eyes huge.
"Yep," Cooper said, popping the 'p'. "Hotel. Food. Rental car. Round-trip flight..." His voice trailed away as he noticed Dean suddenly go very, very pale. "....Dean?"
