It's been a too-good-to-be-true sort of summer. What have I done for the past five days? Wake up at 9:30ish, eat some oatmeal, maybe watch some tennis or Tour de France, straighten up a little, go for a run/bike ride, shower, eat lunch, work on my Noah's Ark puzzle, read, laugh at Butters, watch Charlie bite Harry's finger on YouTube, watch it again, think about what to do for dinner, etc.... I also saw WALL-E at the drive-in. I don't always have the most trustworthy taste, but it's the best movie I've seen in a long while. And a few days ago we walked around a cemetery that holds the remains of people who ain't been alive since the 1820s. Betchya didn't know Miami University was established in 1809 and was named after the Miami Indian Tribe that inhabited the area. Betchya also didn't know that there are only two black people and one hispanic person in town. Oh and three Asians. That's a lie. But not a big one. Caitlin would hate it here.
Before that, John Paul went to Georgia to poop around in the woods with some friends, so instead of hanging out in Oxford with Butters for my birthday, I flew to Pensacola and pooped around on the beach with Brett, Jameson, and Cayce. Blake and Skye came for a couple of days too. Jenny laughed a lot and significantly improved her frisbee throwing skills. Oh, and we took cheesy beach pictures.
Before that, we wanted to go to DC before Webb moved back to Alabama. So we did. Fortunately, it was gay pride weekend so not only did I get to eat good Holby/Kate cuisine, I got to see naked people parade down 17th Street... representing a billion different organizations, each with its own acronym that included a combination of the letters L, G, B, & T. God made the rainbow. Sho nuff. We also went to the weekly drum circle at Malcolm X Park.
Before that, I went to camp for Sr High 1. Don't know where to begin with this one. Had a great time and hope the campers did as well. The evaluations seem to suggest that they did, but I didn't spend much time interacting with them so I felt sort of disconnected. Winston is a program genius. I did some administrative director-ish stuff and some program assistant-ish stuff, except the latter part was way less work than it would've been without Jameson and Mary Catherine.
Before that, I finished up the semester at the domestic violence shelter, helped mom pack her house for moving, packed up all my stuff and put most of it in storage, then drove to Ohio to live for the Summer. I LOVE being here with John Paul. He and his friend Chris have been brewing beer. Brew Masters, they are.
And before that, Nicole and Craig got married and my dad turned 50. We threw my dad a surprise party. I asked the cake people to draw the Bruno bear leaning against a tree.
Back to the present...
On Thursday we're leaving for Seattle. It's a free 11 day trip. Huhwhatt? We're being sent by Consumer's Checkbook (John Paul's old employer in DC) to go around to grocery stores in the area and record prices. When we're not doing that, we'll be doing things like
THIS. And eating good food, which of course is always at the top of my list.
I'm thankful for this hard life I lead.
Closing Remarks: Jon and Kate of Jon and Kate Plus 8 crack me the heck up. And Ben and Jerry's cheesecake brownie flavor isn't as good as it sounds.
