I did a bit of embroidery this week. It’s the signature on the baby quilt my quilting fellowship is making. I designed the template as well (I made a few different ones and this was the one that was picked). I had fun with it. The design was so small and simple that I could take my time on it, a luxury I don’t usually have on my more complicated costumes. :> I actually ripped half of the dove out and re-did it because I wasen't happy with it. There is still one section I’m not 100% happy about but I thought re-doing twice was a bit much, especially on a project for someone I don’t really know. My perfectionism does have limits. :>
The dove is worked with a Roumanian stitch. I fell in love with this stitch on my crewel pocket. I prefer it to a satin stitch. It’s easier and faster I think. Besides, the satin is used all the time, different is more fun. The writing is worked with a running stitch and French knots. All told the project took 5-6 hours, with all the redoing. I really need to work on speeding up my handwork...
