NYC: the loot

Sep 28, 2008 10:23

I spent yesterday alternately beading dancinseamstres's train and posting pics of my NYC trip. I had a few silly moments, like no pics of silkfrocks or at the American Girl Store but overall I'm happy.

I've posted the pics and links in the appropriate entries, you can start here: http://jennylafleur.livejournal.com/345349.html

What you really want to see is the Loot (TM) though, right? :> So um yeah, I'm in a pink mood apparently! I really should have taken these during the day as the colors are a little off on my monitor but I'm feeling lazy. I'll re-take pics as I use the trims and fabrics I guess.

The Sewing Loot. Lots of fun things but my favorites are still the fabrics. The darker is the wool blend. On my monitor the pic with the feathers is the closest to real life. It's a pretty wild color but I loved the fabric so much I had to get it. It will just be one of those "you can find Jenny-Rose in a crowd" type outfits, whatever it turns out to be.

The cotton velvet is a little paler in person than in the pics. It's a very shell pink, lots of coral in the undertone. Originally I was thinking a hat to go with the wool but there was only 3yds left so I got a deal for taking it all. Oh darn. Maybe a smart 18th century jacket or Spencer or something. So many possibilities!

None of the trims or sequins are earmarked either, I just bought what I liked and what was a good deal. Except for that black fly-fringe. I really think that needs to be trimming for the yellow silk soon to be pet en l'air from the LA haul. *nods head*

The gold is my trimming for the Charles II dress. It's a bit small from the portraits I've been looking at but it's exactly the color/tone I wanted and it was in my price range. And it was from Tinsel Trading. Somehow that makes me happy, although rather like Katherine's poor cousin knowing how much she paid for her TT trim. *grins* Still she is a mistress and I am a poor Maid of Honour so actually that works. *hee* I'm going to do triple rows of it all over the bodice, should be fun if lots of hand sewing...

My American Girl splurge. I haven't taken pics on Felicity but it looks way cute on her. I just love the little blouse and the fact it's fully accessorized. :>

Fashion Loot. I have a necklace too I forgot to put in there. We did the cheapie places, just for fun stuff. I'm still not sure about the PINK purse but it looked so MK. And it was $5. In fact nothing in the pic was more than $10. We had way too much fun shopping in NYC, can you tell?

Not a single book. That has to be a vacation first. I was really focused on the fabric, trims and rhinestones what can I say? :>
