I re-trimmed my ivory silk hat last night in preparation of putting it on EBay. While I never use the hat, I love the ribbon I originally trimmed it with (it matches the trim on one of my frocks). So I re-trimmed it with a pretty salmon pink that I have not even come close to using in the last year. Hopefully it will find a good home. :>
While I was at it I took pics of the process. I also took a little video of making the box pleating. It came out crappy due to the poor lighting so B was kind enough to let me use her camera (with sound!) to try again this afternoon. YouTube has casued the sound to be a little off, but you get the idea!
B was also kind enough to take some pics of my quilted petticoat as is. Not too much change since the last time you saw it but I assure you progress has been made! It’s the wretched sides. I can’t use the large quilting hoop so at first I tried without a hoop at all - do-able but incredibly slow going and fiddly. I have found a hoop that works, I just have to move it every diamond and a half. Tedious but I am getting through it. If I had to do it over again I would certainly sew all the seams together and then quilt, rather than this quilting then piece method. If I had I’m sure I could have been almost done by now! Oh well.
It makes a rather pretty backdrop for pics anyway. :>
