So, I did the Test The Nation IQ test on CBC last night, and did really well. In fact I did so well that both Jason and Sean refused to do it after me, lest I be proved the smartest of them. That would be a blow to their tender little egos.
I don't put a tonne of merit into these test anyway. I had a real IQ test done on me in 1999 which took all bloody day when I lived in Edmonton and one of my friends was in the PhD program in the Faculty of Education, Psychology. They needed guinea pigs and she schlepped me off to one of her colleagues as it's a conflict of interest should I have tested under her. I also did Myers Briggs and a few other career testings. And it only cost me $30 instead of $900.
Anyway, I'm pretty SMRT according to both tests and I came in at around the same level of the CBC one last night. I know my 'number' from the one I spent 6 hours doing in Edmonton, but only because I got my friend to tell me after a few beverages. In reality, psychologist administering such tests don't tell you the actual number, just where you fall in; borderline, below avg, avg, above avg, superior, genius because people get obsessed with numbers. I'm excellent at Memory, Language and Logic, but lost some on math and puzzles.
Now, if only someone could administer a test to find out why I am so lazy.
Everyone should take the tet at CBC.ca - it was fun! I'm going to link it later.
