Two strange human encounters yesterday. Both at church.
Monday is the day I teach the K class for and hour at church. I saw someone with a key going into a convenient door that is usually locked. I called hello (we were far behind her) and went to the same door. It was locked when we got there. I thought o well and started to walk to the main door. The person came and open the door and admonished me that this door was not supposed to be unlocked at this hour. She let me in grudgingly. But her attitude rubbed me the wrong way.
Then I walked to the main office of the church to ask if there were anything going on in the main church that morning (it fit nicely in my lesson plan to walk around and learn what things are called in the church.) The sec was busy, but got up to check the list. She said, no it didn't seem that there was anything going on. Then she turned away to speak to someone I couldn't see. By the way she had ended her sentence to me I thought that the answer was not definitive and was asking that person about my question. She was not and when- she noticed I was not leaving and was looking at her she gave me a very exasperated "What? Can I HELP you?" look. I apologized and left the office.
What aren't people as wonderful as I need them to be? Why do I replay these uncomfortable moments all day?
