Panthers vs Bruins at the BCA

Yesterday I ventured to Rochester to visit with friends and get a hockey fix. I got there around 12:30, and had thai food with Rosie at the King and I. We then ventured on campus- Rosie had to grab inks and I needed to pick up my hockey tickets. I ran into Ryan, and ended up chatting with my old boss when we pitstopped at the library to say hi. I also got a look at some of the crazy construction on campus. So many ch-ch-ch-changes.

Around 3 we got back to her apartment and watched Supernatural with Tom.
Brittany was next on the visit list- I hung out with her for a little bit in her apartment. Around 5 I went to Lisa's and picked her up for dinner. We went to Red Robin before heading downtown

First my lovely tickets:

It was my first time back at the BCA since RIT won the AHA playoff title. We were sitting in a corner, 3 rows from the ice.

Lisa and I had no loyalties, so we spent a lot of the first trying to figure out who to root for. During announcements, it became clear most of our section was pro-Boston. I wasn't feeling Boston because they knocked the Sabres out of the playoffs last year, and Lisa's sister kept texting her how much she hates Chara(who is fucking HUGE by the way. I can't believe how tall he is!). Finally Lisa recognized one of the Panthers players was a former Sabres player(he was in the first fight of the night heh), so we went with them.

There were also people behind us and to our left who were Sabres fans, and spent a lot of the game talking about them. Lisa is born from two Sabres obsessed parents in Buffalo, so we enjoyed listening in. As for play, the period was pretty back and forth, the Panthers scoring 2 and the Bruins scoring 1. There were two fights, one right in front of us. Of course I was too into it to think about snapping a photo.

The second was mostly forgettable. I honestly don't remember if anything happened or not. Oops. This was the period where Lisa and I looked over to our right and realized there was a row of RIT players watching the game in the next section. Heh.

Third period was the best. The Bruins were coming at the Panthers like crazy to try and get the equalizer after the score ended up 3-2. They had to have doubled their SOG. The goalie for the Panthers, Plante, was ridiculous. There were a couple points where I thought there was no way but for the puck to have gone in, and he had saved it. He earned some "not worthy" bows/standing Os, and really got the crowd into it.

Right before the first crazy save.

Plante was able to hold them off until the end of the game.

Afterward I dropped Lisa off and then chilled with Carol for a bit. I got back to Syracuse around 12:30

While the game slightly satiated my longing for some live hockey, it wasn't the same as being at the Ritter. 8 daaays.

Meanwhile, @ritsports just posted a picture of Burt and Cornacchia in the black jerseys that will be worn during the Brick City game and auctioned off to raise money for charity. I WANT.

PS: I am sad the Sabres ditched the slug :___:
PPS: Tomorrow is my cousin's wedding. Full Catholic mass. In Latin. This is going to be... fun.
