I'm getting old or something- an update more than I couple paragraphs, and I can't find the motivation to do it. Oy. But I do like going back and looking up things in my journal for nostalgia's sake, so I will make myself do it.

SO A CONDENSED VERSION OF MY TRIP TO CONNECTICUT NOV 6-8:

As I mentioned, I didn't find out about this until an hour before Stef and her mom were due to set out- there had been a miscommunication on the date of my mother's birthday(that weekend vs the weekend Stef moves). So I went home and packed super-quick, agonized over whether I should go or not, decided I should, then had my dad drop me back off at Stef's.
It was a 5 hour drive, but it went by fairly quick. I worked on my knitting, and Stef brought the Five People You Meet in Heaven audiobook. I enjoyed the book when I read it several years ago, but listening to the audiobook made it sound waaay too cheesy. And I like cheesy things(I do love Barrowman, after all), so you know it had to be really bad. We got a little lost getting into town, but we eventually got to our hotel all right and settled in. Before going to bed, I made Stef watch Modern Family. She liked it, woo!
Our schedule was pretty busy on Saturday; several apartment appointments between 9:30 and 4:30. The first 3 were godawful. I would never allow a friend to live there, I don't care how cheap the rent was. The one after that was freaking gorgeous. It was built in the 20s so it was a little old, but it was very spacious and nice. And it had a super cool cemetery around the corner; one of the oldest burial grounds in New England. We saw graves from before the US was a country. It was pretty sweet(I get excited from stuff from the 1770s, I would have a ball in Europe. WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN THERE YET D:)
We had a little break, so we drove to Stef's new workplace and scoped out the nearby mall. The next place we went to was even better. It was a 2 family home, and she'd have the 2nd floor to herself. This really friendly couple lived downstairs with their cute baby and dog. They're artsy folk, so it was Stef's kind of scene. And the apartment was so cute! And she would have 3 rooms, and it was cheaper than the other place. Stef fell in love with it too. The only issue was that the street had a fairly bad rap (a cop in the diner we had lunch with + 1 other person we talked to said it was sketchy) =/
The other apartments we looked at really didn't matter, because Stef was pretty settled on the two AMAZINGLY AWESOME ONES. Stef's mom was for the 1920's one and I was for the 2nd floor one. We debated this for most of the evening, with Stef eventually deciding she wanted the one I liked. We went to a lovely dinner in Mystic, CT and checked out some shops. Stef's mom was still feeling uneasy about the bad rap of the street, so when we got back to New London we tried to track down a cop. No luck, so we watched more Modern Family and went to bed.
In the morning we went back to the police station, only to get bad news. The officer insisted that it wasn't a good area. We couldn't ignore what people kept saying about it, so Stef settled on the 1920's apartment. Which I shouldn't say settled, because it's still a wicked awesome place.
THEN IT WAS TIME FOR IKEA. We traveled an hour or so to New Haven to go. I've never been to IKEA, but I've passed several and have always wanted to go. *___* such a fabulous place. I wanted to get an apartment myself just so I could furnish it with shiny things(I'm a simple girl, things like IKEA excite me. Pathetic, no?) We easily spent 2 hours meandering through the store. Then we spent another 45 indulging on delicious swedish meatballs. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE AN IKEA HERE? because Syracuse is too small apparently :___:
3 hours after we entered IKEA, it was time to make the trek home. The car ride seemed to go on foreverrr. Maybe because I didn't want to come home, heh. At least I made some progress on my (stalled) scarf.

Tomorrow I am road tripping to Mercyhurst for hockey. It will be my second venture to lovely Erie, PA for a match. I look forward to Wendy's next to the House of Foam and Fabrics. We've lost one member of our trip, Lisa, due to an outbreak of the Flu on the Mercyhurst campus(including 1/2 the hockey team last week). She doesn't want to risk it with finals next week and elderly relatives around for thanksgiving. I will not be deterred by silly things like H1N1. Everett, Noelle and I shall press on, and hopefully RIT will pull out a win for the trouble :)

I've been marathoning Supernatural the past couple weeks. This was not a show I ever saw myself watching. The fandom radiates all kinds of crazy; I didn't want to go near it. Then ONTD made me curious with all their gifs. So I decided, what the hell, and breezed through Season 1 on megavideo. It definitely wasn't what I expected, and I feel bad for judging it for so long. I enjoy that this show can have me dying of laughter one week, and tugging my heart strings the next. And it's kind of addicting. I'm halfway through season 4. I'm hoping to be all caught up for next week's episode with Mark Sheppard(I've been cheating and watched the past two new episodes, which were hilarious!).

And I think that's enough update for today.

PS: I made my 10th post on ONTD today. I feel kind of accomplished. Or something. I've been on the site since '05, but never posted anything until this past March. \o/ j/k, it was my 11th. favoriting error on my part, oops. Still posted #10 earlier this week. But yay #11 :P
