IT STARTS.

This weekend was hockey-rific. I am writing this entry on a lack of sleep[I mention why when talking about the non-hockey stuff], so it might not make sense.

Orange vs. White game
This was a nice way to preview the new freshmen! I've realized this is probably going to be the hardest year to deal with number switching- the players that graduated last year I've been following for 4 years. It's really hard to see that "3" on Knowles and not instantly think "Justin Hoffstetter"! I did it frequently with Adam Hartley, who's wearing Anton Kharin's 22. And some of the sophomores shuffled numbers so I have to get used to that too. I thought 10 was a freshman because that was Jessie Newman's number last year, but it's really a sophomore[Cornacchia].
ANYWAY the game itself was kind of boring. Playing against yourself you obviously don't want to play too hard, and it was more like a practice than anything amazing to watch. It was nice to be in the rink again though. WHICH NOW HAS WIFI!

Exhibition vs York
Some actual real hockey, WHOO! And it was a good one. The refs were idiots[as per usual in the AHA]. They weren't calling anything, which then ended up in a nice fight between Taylor McReynolds and Michael Pain of York. McReynolds made it known last year to have a bit of a temper, and when the ref blatantly ignored like 2 penalties he decided to take it into his own hands. I think my favorite moment of the game was when a York player attempted to skate over and fight with Burt, but ended up tripping over the goalie stick. Burt then proceeded to laugh and shake his head as he skated away. Of course this happened RIGHT in front of the Crew, so we were all very amused.

The best thing about exhibition games is that Coach Wilson always switches up the goalies; so we got to see all three in action[one per period]. It was nice to see DeMichiel start us off strong, and he didn't allow them to score in the 1st. Burt and Alexin scored for us :) In the second, it was Jan's turn. He hasn't had much ice time because Louis and DeMichiel kept us very well covered the past two years, but Jared's a senior and Jan's our #2 now so I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of him. Unfortunately he let 2 in, but in his defense one was with a 5-on-3. By the end of the 2nd it was 3-2 RIT. I was pretty impressed with our newbie, Shane Mandola, or as some guys in the Corner Crew dubbed him- Sunshine[He's from California, and it's a play off 'Remember the Titans']. I hope we get to see him some more this season! Actually, a lot of our freshmen played REALLY well. 2 even started- Tanev and Hartley. Our season looks promising- Air Force better watch out!

Final was 3-2 RIT :) Cheer of the game: the guys behind me singing "Blame Canada".

The crowd was (as expected) pretty thin on Friday, but I thought there would be more people out on Sunday. Maybe because it was only an exhibition? Ah well, I'm sure once we get into some NCAA action we'll be back to 3-people deep on the concourse!

Before the game on Saturday I went to see Zombieland with Ryan, Bucky, their roommate and another guy I didn't know. IT WAS AMAZING. Woody Harrelson was hilarious. I didn't know Abigail Breslin was going to be in it, so that was a pleasant surprise. In fact, the entire cast was awesomesauce. Especially the cameo, which I won't spoil. Zombie comedies are the best.

On Saturday I also partook in marathoning Children of Earth with Everett, Brittany, Rosie and Tom. Brittany made us strawberry pancakes :D She had to leave about 1/2 way through episode 2, then Rosie and Tom departed after episode 3. Everett and I didn't finish until a little after 4. And yes, he cried. He was also drunk.

I attempted to sleep, but their neighbors thought it was cool to BE REALLY EFFING LOUD at 5:30 in the morning. I was also on their couch, which is not good for sleeping at all. It's stiff and leather-y.

Before the exhibition game, Everett and I ended up watching the 1st episode of the new Inuyasha anime. I think Beth described it best as "Inuyasha on speeeeed". I haven't immersed myself in that story in a long time, so I was really confused on what was going on. I vaguely remember the end of the manga? It got kind of blah with all the sword upgrade nonsense that I didn't really pay attention. *cough*

After the game, Ev and I ate China Panda and watched a little bit of 'A Very Potter Musical'. I really want him to see the whole thing! After that I drove home. :(

last notes:
-Consequences and The Undertaker's Gift came in the mail while I was gone, yay.

-I forgot to record Dexter adlfkjald;kfj WHY. I've been waiting for like a month since I saw the cliffhanger on the premiere leak. *head desk*
