A random!stuff post.
I've been roped into babysitting the past two days by my sister. I hope this is not a trend that continues. I love my nephews to death, but I just do not get along with children. I have no patience for them at all. *twitch*
I'm supposed to be dog/house sitting for my Aunt and Uncle Sunday-Tuesday. So far I have no clue as to what that entails. I am contemplating chilling at their house for the Torchwood/Doctor Who/Being Human marathon on BBCA though, seeing as my parents would stab me if I tried to watch it here. And they have a nicer TV and comfier couch. Though I might just skip the sadtimes and pop some popcorn for the inevitable SDCC RTD!wank.
Can I go on for a minute about how much I love Hotel Babylon? I've said it before, but it is so cracktastically wonderful. After Anna left, I was concerned it would lose some of the comedy, but the Ben-James-Gino trio picked up the slack as I hoped they would. And watching episodes 4x4 and 4x5 were a much-needed uplift last night <3 Not one, but two Dexter Fletchers running around. With bonus American accent! I need to watch more things with DF in them. Which reminds me I need to finish Band of Brothers. I've been trying to convince my mom to watch it with me, but after how horrendous The Stand was, and her random hatred of Children of Earth after only watching 5 minutes of it, I don't think she trusts me to pick miniseries anymore. :(
And to end on something I noticed after re-reading The Twilight Streets-
I had forgotten that CoE isn't the first time Ianto has died. He died in the alt!world in The Twilight Streets. He also died in the short story "Gordian" by Steve Savile that popped up in issues 14 and 15 of Torchwood Magazine[It's a really good story if you haven't read it, and has pretty artwork by Mike Dowling]. You could even argue he technically died in 'In the Shadows', because he went to hell to retrieve Jack. It's also interesting to look at Jack's reactions in each one- In TTS and "Gordian" he is motivated to fight/solve the problem. In CoE he just kind of gives up until Johnson takes him out of the cell. And then he kills Steven and is even more broken. Hmmm.
I'm off to watch the rest of 'The History Boys'[while wishing I were in San Diego at the Day Five/Planet of the Dead showing with RTD, DT and JB :__:]. I watched the first 20 minutes last night and really liked it!
