So I just got back from my interview. It went insanely well, most likely because 90% of the time was spent with her discussing the program and me nodding and smiling. I've got more info on what the 'camp' is- it's a computer science camp where they build 3 computers- 2 for elderly people and one they get to keep for themselves. It's basically grooming 14-15 year olds for the real world and having actual jobs. They have to dress and act as if it were a job, and at the end receive a $600 stipend. I basically play babysitter and get them off the bus, make sure they behave and escort them everywhere. In the mornings I will be working with Professor Hill, which should provide the lulz because he always amused me when I had a class with him. In the afternoon they do soft-skills type things, like go over The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, go on industry field trips, interview skills, etc. There would be two of us doing this, and it's about 25 kids. At the end of the interview she said I was their number one choice so far, and she lent me the book to re-read[We covered it in 9th grade health]. She basically said I had the job, but couldn't officially say it because they still had more people to interview. I am really excited about it, because $12 an hour for nearly 30 hours a week = me not so poor anymore. Plus if I can maintain about 8 of my VIA hours, I'll be making nearly $400 a week. woo!
Now I have to work on shuffling my hours, hopefully Manoj will be kind in switching with me.
I emailed the Maria people, and they said tickets for July 13th would be up this afternoon. I have been refreshing the page as often as possible >__>; I want those tickets. The other dates just disappeared, so hopefully it will be up soon!
Also from the Torchwood website:
Julie Gardner has confirmed that a third series of Torchwood has been commissioned and that it will be unlike anything we have seen before!
Not only will the series air on BBC One, Torchwood will have a brand new format. The series will consist of just one continuous story, delivered over 5 consecutive nights.
That's not the only thing that will be new about the series - Torchwood will have a brand new producer, Peter Bennett, who has previously worked on Torchwood and on Doctor Who as well as 'The Mummy', 'A View to a Kill' and 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'. Euros Lyn will also join the team as Director. Euros has directed several Doctor Who episodes including the 'Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead' two-part story from the current series.
And just to add to the excitement, the show will boast some new arrivals in the cast as well...
Julie Gardner says that she and Russell T Davies "are thrilled to be bringing Torchwood back for a third series. The new series promises to be a gripping and surprising TV event and we're certain the audience will love the team's exciting, roller-coaster adventures."
Production on the new series will start in August.
New arrivals to the cast... I'm assuming that means they plan on replacing Tosh and Owen. Interesting. That week will be the best week ever[hopefully], and then I'll cry because I won't have anymore Torchwood for the rest of the year =/
