Saturday night
guntharr and I saw Carrie Fisher's one woman show - Wishful Drinking. It was frick'n hilarious - seriously, both of us were in tears throughout the show. Carrie reviewed the ups / downs of her life, her family, her career. I particularly loved her stories of her experience with addiction and bi-polar disorder.
At one point she showed a giant blackboard illustrating the convoluted connections between her parents, their partners post-divorce, and the partners / children of Elizabeth Taylor, all to answer the question of whether her daughter and Elizabeth Taylor's grandson (who are now "interested" in each other), are indeed, related. Another one of the many anecdotes Carrie shared was about her time during Star Wars - very funny insights. At the end of the performance, she actually reenacted the scene where she made the plea for help to Obi-Wan - I got tingles :P
Her anecdotes were not only generally well recieved by the audience as a whole, one particular audience member burst into fits of hysterical laughter throughout the show. Eventually, this woman starting blurting out during relatively quiet sections, not waiting for the punchlines. It actually got a bit distracting to Carrie's routine at times, yet she seemed to take it with good humor. By the end, the woman's laughter was utterly contagious making it hard to breathe at times! Regardless of this, I couldn't recommend this show more HIGHLY!
