I'm working on the budget for my long-awaited plight to stay home with the children.
Here's what we're working with:
Mortgage: 950
Car: 400
Electric/Water/Sewer: 275
Gas (Natural Gas): 25
Gas (Automotive): 100
Grocery: 500 (average of what we spend on any given month for groceries and paper products)
Internet: 50
Satellite: 50
Savings: 100
Total: 2450 (Extracirriculars and car insurance I plan on paying up front with my tax return)
Husband's income: 2160
Hubby's OT: 500 (Average)
Total: 2660
Which will leave us $210 for misc. spending throughout the month.
With our tax return, we're going to pay for the girls to have dance lessons, set aside money for uniforms and clothing, pay up our car insurance for a year and set aside known expenses for school--supplies, pictures, fundraisers, etc. If our return looks like previous years, we should still have around 1500 left, which we'll put in savings. Hubby's work pays for life and health insurance for us all, and his income above excludes the amount going into a 401K.
The plan is to save all of our tax return next spring, save as much as we can now off of my paychecks and with that, we should have between 15-17K in savings by next Christmas. We're going to start trying for another baby in the spring, and once the baby would be born we should be ready financially for me to stay home with him/her.
I am SO EXCITED. I hope I can make this work. I'm tracking every penny we spend until then, cutting out eating out and frivilous spending, and hopefully I'll see that we can live on a tight budget.
