Day 08 - Your favourite work in translation
"All Quiet on the Western Front". I believe it was originally written in German, and I read it for the first time during HIST 317--The Collapse of Europe, which focused primarily on the World Wars and Russian Revolution. I remember being so ticked to have to read a novel for a history class, but I found myself absorbed in it and I have read it several times since. Everyone who knows me knows that I am facinated by the World Wars, so I doubt it comes as much of a shock. Likewise, in literature era second War, I also like the Diary of Anne Frank. Not in a 'I love to read of a family going through hell' as much as the story touches my heart every time it's read. Both of which you can find on my bookshelf at home.
