The Job

A few people have written me to ask how the job is going. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back yet; I've just been exceptionally busy. -smiling-

The job is interesting. So far it's allowed me to utilize the best of my business, organizational, and leadership skills. I won't bore you by going into detail about it, but the one thing that _can_ be said is that it's so over and above anything I've ever done before that I'm finding the challenge really exciting.

There is one thing this job is not, however, and that is "low key". -smirking- Now I don't think they out and out lied to me... but they a) misarticulated how much change was needed; and b) mistook how focused on change management I really am. Even if everything stayed status quo I wouldn't consider the job "laid back", but with the projects I'm organizing it's going to be anything but...

The one area where the job is most rewarding is getting to help people. I have keys to a food bank, a myriad of resources available locally where I can help indigents find jobs, get transportation, find ways of getting identification in order to get housing and such. I've already met with... oh, thirty or more people and have helped most. Sometimes I feel as though I'm walking on air, the feeling fills my heart. It makes me want to organize the $100-a-plate-charity dinners, or elaborate food drives, just to do more, just to put my skill-sets to work where they could really make a difference! All in good time, my pretties. -smiling- All in good time.

I would say on a personal note that I haven't been horribly busy with much else besides work. Jeremy took me to the riverboat casino last weekend. We spent the night in a very beautiful room. We played the slot machines and on this amazing stroke of beginners luck, I won $210. -grinning- Other than that, he and I have been spending quiet time alone... going out to dinner on occasion, or curling up on the couch for the few hours we have after we get home to watch Fraiser on DVD. All-in-all I've been quiet, but happy. I hope you guys have been too!
