My workfriend Jared, in his all-seeing, all-knowing gay wisdom, turned me on to sex columnist Dan Savage and his column Savage Love. We used to read his column together on our smoke breaks at Whole Foods, such fun! Since then, I've been reading the column archives and Ross and I listen to his wonderful, witty, and wise podcasts. I just love him ( Read more... )

Thanks for the invitation! But I think I've had my fill of club-type situations, at least until something I'd really like comes up (we really want to go to Release the Bats). It usually feels loud and lonely to me, especially since I don't drink anymore! Ross and I were thinking of asking you if, in the next few weeks, you'd like to get together and do something where we can hear each other speak! Because we think you're really nice, and you're into a lot of the same things we are, so we figure you'd have interesting things to say if we could hear you!
Any ideas?

I don't know if I've ever asked you if you play Call of Cthulhu. Even if you don't like to roleplay, we have the Arkham Horror boardgame too! And Munchkin Cthulhu!

It was actually Marissa's idea because she wants to see you as well and that is the only time during the week that I can see her. It really isn't a clubby environment, it is extremely laid back, and I think you would enjoy hearing Marissa sing...she is amazing.
I'd love to go to Bats again actually.and random gamey/movie nights are also great. I wanted to play Call but never knew anyone to play with. I used to pplay all the munchkin games, apples to apples and all that stuff before I moved out here. My friend Elisa works for the company that produces Killer Bunnies actually lol

We won't be able to make it this time--please tell Marissa that I'm sorry and that I'll be emailing her soon! However, we decided that it does sound like a lot of fun and we want to see you guys, so after the first week of August (we're going to Ross's fancy German Lyme doctor in Seattle and get back the 8th), we want to come!

Yayyy, let's play games! I can run a CoC game for you and Ross if you're interested, too!!! ;D

No worries, I'll tell her.
I'll be in Vegas from the 5th-10th anyway.
There will be games and I'll look into CoC.
Is it a card game or a straight RPG like D&D with books etc.?

Marissa gave me your number in a text the other day but I forgot to save it before it got erased :(

CoC is a straight RPG like D&D, but it's quite different...the rules are less complicated, and there aren't any superhuman characters....the emphasis is more on human fraility and sanity loss. It's nominally set in the 20's.

And then also we have Arkham Horror, a fun, complicated boardgame: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkham_Horror

Oh, send me an email at irma.vep@gmail.com, and I'll send you my phone number!

It is as I thought on all counts.
I will look forward to trying the game out then. :)

Some friends of mine started playing Arkham Horror right before I moved out here but I never got a chance to try it.

I send you email.
