Grant's 6th birthday party went very well yesterday afternoon at the pool (what a wonderful place to have it. No mess to pick up and not having to entertain kids!) It was a lot of fun and he got some really nice gifts from his friends and my parents and brother. He was so excited in church on Sunday morning....I wish you could have seen him. Sometime during the sermon he leaned over to me and whispered..."Mommy, I don't think I can wait till my birthday party any more." :) And than you should have seen Kari at the party, several times during the afternoon she went over to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek and said, "Happy Birthday Grant, I love you." So sweet...I think I even got a picture of her doing that!
So, tomorrow is when he actually turns 6. I traded work with a co-worker and am working tonight instead of tomorrow. We'll have a simple "party" tomorrow night...with pizza (his request) and gifts from Mom and Dad. Tomorrow afternoon I'll take cupcakes and balloons to the school to have a small birthday party for him there.
Today was a good day together...didn't do a whole lot, just hung out at home. We are ALL struggling with allergies, so we stay inside with the air conditioning, mostly. We did however, finally take Grant's training wheels off of his bike and started to teach him how to ride without them. He did surprisingly well for the firs time! We were very impressed and he rode all by himself almost the length of our circle drive! He got tired though shortly after that and said he wanted to stop for today and try again tomorrow!
Yeah...these allergies stink! Funny thing is that when we were in Iowa we hardly had them at all (with the exception of John who always has mid-summer/fall allergies), but they were not nearly as bad as they are here! Don't know why, you'd think in a more lush area they'd be worse, but not the case with him. Kari and John has it the worst. Grant and I just are itchy with an occassional runny nose. However, my throat has been hurting today...probably because of drainage....at least I hope so.
Back to work and school tomorrow...looking forward to it! I think I'm going to try to have a garage sale on Friday afternoon. I don't have too much to get rid of, but enough to qualify for a garage sale. Hopefully it will go well since we are almost "out of" garage sale season!
Next Saturday is the beginning of soccer...and my lovely husband is coaching Kari and Grant's team...ought to be interesting! :) I know he'll do a great job!
