Hmmmmmmm my week so far has been very busy and not to mention stressful!! Work lately has been almost too much stress for me to handle. I just need a damn break. And Tuesday night i didn't get to leave work til lil after 10 at night because i was on call and i just got pounded with cases towards 8:30. Every time i'm on call i can never sleep! EVER. AND i had to get up early early for jury duty. BUT i got a day off from work and i get a full days paid! Plus the whopping $9 from the state for serving my duty. Amazing.
So, Wednesday was my first jury duty. I was a bit nervous about driving in Greensburg but i survived. I got there about 8:15ish and the police gaurds made us all wait outside.. in the cold until 8:30am. Now what if it was raining or snowing really bad!? how rude. Anyhow, we went downstairs and sat in this big room with uncomfy chairs for atleast 3 hours. Good thing i brought my Suduko book. I was one of the youngest people out of all 51 jurors. I think there were like 2 other young people besides me. And the one kid looked so familiar. I think he went to Burrell.. i dunno. And an old substitute teacher from Burrell was there.
So at 10:30 they called our names and gave us a number. Mine was 23. And after they did that we had to go up into the actual courtroom.. On the way up there i ran into someone i know who was there for a court hearing lol. What are the odds. The courthouse is beautiful by the way! omg. nice. After everyone was up there they had us go into the room and sit in the space where our numbers were. They had a clipboard with our number and 2 sheets of paper with yes/no questions and a pencil. Then the judge came out and started talking and explained what was going on and he said this was a criminal case. He introduced the people of the court and the actual criminal and his attorney dude and the lawyer.. The criminal was from 3rd Ave in New Ken arrested for Aggravated Assualt and Simple Assault on a woman and her 12 yr. old child. What are the chances of that ever happening in New ken?? HAHA. Then they anounced the cop who arrested this man and i'm like, I KNOW HIM! haha! so that got my attention quickly. The judge went over the questions with us to make sure we understood them. Then the people went back into this room and they called us one by one in there.. took HOURS upon HOURS of doing this btw...
FINALLY after about 3 and a half hours they called my number and by the time they got to me there were already 8 jurors selected to be on the panel. So i knew my odds were low. They were only picking 12 jurors and 2 alternates. So, i went back there and i had to sit infront of like hmm, bout 7 people and they ask questions regarding your answers from the paper. Mine were marked all NO so the only things they asked me were what my occupation was (which already said on the sheet) and what it was and how long i've lived in Lower Burrell( which was ALSO on the sheet.. lol) and asked about my level of eduacation.. which was already on the sheet.. So i found that kind of retarded but i guess they had to ask you SOME questions.. So that took about a whole 2 minutes thenn the lady walked me out of the room.. made me sit in a chair in another room with a police officer and then they brought be BACK into the room with the people and said whether or not they want you to be a juror for tomomorrows case. I wasen't selected. I Kind of wanted to, just becuase i think it would be cool to see this case and how the court actually works and see it in person n stuff. BUt thats ok Thursday is my day off and i want to sleep in!
Then after my interview they excused me and i got to go home! i was a bit nervous about leaving Greensburg. I knew half the way back but then i saw the toll place and quickly made a right turn and paid .50 cents coz i knew if i went straight i was going to regret it.. i dunno why but i had a gut feeling that this was the right way to go. SO i end up were the Kings is and it's all good i was excited i foundmy way back.
So to sya the least my dday was quite boring but interesting at the same time.
Tomorrow i had a 3:00 doctors appt. AHH i hate those. i don't wanna go!
