Bands Vs Weather 2021 8-2- (concert)

Oct 12, 2021 12:18

Final season record is 8-2-1. (yes, some gigs got double scored, as we usually get a rematch on the ones that the band loses.) The record is 8-2-1, because the second Fowlerville match was weather shortened and I score those as ties....

The weather on Sunday was great, so the FCB concert at the Franklin Cider Mill took place as scheduled. This is the first cider mill gig we've done since MW retired from the band, and it was a very good thing that I put the small deck table in the car - the cider mill gives us cider & donuts after the concert, and MW used to bring a card table. The table wasn't really big enough for that, as it's for holding the hand sanitizer/wipes/wastebasket that the band supplies for rehearsals & concerts, but it was better than the top of the trash receptacle or balancing on a music stand which were the other options. The concert went pretty well, considering that we were doing it on about 6 hours of rehearsal and we just didn't have enough stuff ready to go. One thing that nobody thought about is that jebra wasn't going to be there. We knew that, but nobody connected that with 'jebra has/brings the sound system'. J *has* a very similar system (mod speaker stands), and we could have brought it, but nobody thought of it.

I went up to rehearsal last night to do setup. I had asked for a few more helpers, and there were five of us, which seems to be about right. Two people to move gear/fetch stands from the various places they hide in the music wing, two people to set up chairs, one person to follow the seating chart and put the seat labels down. I could see no reason to hang around after setup was done, so I went home. It was weird. Next week will be even weirder, as I will be missing a rehearsal in concert season without a direct conflict!
