Yesterday I quit my job. When I got there first thing in the morning I told my boss I needed to talk to her. She says 'oh good' sounding excited. I said 'uhm, it's not too good. Today is going to be my last day.' I just told her that I'm not happy doing design, I feel more comfortable with animation and web development. She didn't seem mad or anything that I was leaving. But she said if I decide to go back to school do not go to Durham because they don't teach you anything there. They just throw the programs at you and you need to teach yourself.

You have no idea how I felt when she said that to me. Apparently they've had some students from Durham who didn't know how to use the programs. There are always going to be students who just don't get what they are taught. You can't blame the school on that. And you probably got the 'bad' students anyways. The good ones most likely went to work for better companies in Toronto. And she said she met with a teacher there and he was old. Like what is that supposed to mean. You're pretty old yourself lady. And you don't even know how to use the programs yourself.
Durham College is a number 1 rated school. Multimedia Design is a fairly new program and each year they improve it. If there is one thing I will defend it's Durham College and the multimedia design program. I am extremely proud to be a graduate of it. And you tell me...how does someone like me, who did not a single thing about anything that relates to the program graduate on the Presidents Honour Roll and as the highest ranking graduate of the class? I certainly didn't teach myself everything.
But now I'm probably just another statistic to her about her opinion at Durham because I left their crappy company because I didn't enjoy graphic design. Multimedia design's focus is NOT graphic design. It's programming, animation, web, video, audio, and design. And I realized that I do no enjoy staring at a computer screen all day, moving images around to your liking. I need something a little more complex than that. I need to have a problem that I can fix. I need code. I need animation. I need a challenge.
