Well, it's been about 2 weeks since I last updated this thing, so I'll go ahead and do it now. It's raining outside...a somewhat odd occurrence in southern California. But, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.
The spring semester started last week (1/31). Because it starts so late, it doesn't end until the end of May. I'm trying to figure out my plans for the next academic year. I need to pick a state to establish residency, either VA or FL. There's really only 2 medical schools that would open up if I took FL: USF, and (God forbid) UM. If I take the VA residency, I get 3: UVA, EVMS, VCU. Numbers-wise, it looks like I'm better qualified for VA. Because my father's in the military, it's a little more complicated, so I have to get on the phone this week with the schools and see if I meet their residency requirements. Hopefully, I still get to spend 2 years in Tallahassee, and not have that screw anything up. We'll see.
So, here's a list of school that I MIGHT apply to:
-UVA
-EVMS
-VCU
-USUHS (military's medical school)
-Michigan State
-USF
-UNC-CH
The recommendation is that you apply to about 10-12 schools. It's an extremely competitive process, as you might imagine. So, as the months progress, I'll modify that list, plus I'll have a better idea of what MCAT scores I'll be pulling down.
Also, can someone explain to me why a one credit hour lab is 3 hours of actual lab experience, but a 3 credit hour lecture is a little less than 3 actual hours of lecture? I'm taking a chem lab that's 2 credit hours, so it's actually about 6 hours, and I want to know why it's not 6 credit hours.
