So, I went to LA for the first time yesterday. It was pretty cool to see all the stuff you see on TV and in the movies (Hollywood & Vine, Beverly Hills, etc). Other than that, though, it was just so materialistic. I mean, EVERYONE (well, about 85%) owned highly over-priced vehicles. It was just ridiculous. The reason for going was to hit up the California Science Center, which is displaying the Body Worlds exhibit. It was amazing. They had bodies made completely out of blood vessels, organs, skin, etc. It was more than worth the 2 hour trip.
But, because I gave up Saturday to go up there, I had to spend this afternoon studying. I went to Borders (as usual). Today I timed myself to see how long it would take to read a genetics chapter...1.75 hours. Crazy. While I was there, I was checking out some books on FSU's medical program. While it only cost something like $14K a yr to attend, you have to add on another $7K for books each year! Does that seem absurd to anyone else?! $7,000 a year for BOOKS! I spent less than half that on books the entire time I was in college. Yikes.
Well, I'm done ranting for now. I'm going to catch some new Law & Order and Crossing Jordan. I love the Sunday night line-ups. :)
