I got this from a Spanish friend who's very used to dealing with very hot weather and its going to sound crazy but I swear it works.
The best way to keep your house cool is to close all of the windows and curtains to block out the heat. We've done it downstairs and whilst its pretty dark, my God its gorgeous down there, we don't even need the fans on!
