...as ganked from MF.
1.) What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
3 people, but not all at once. Oh, you're asking "what?", not "who?" LOL ... Rode Amtrak cross-country, went to Seattle, fucked in my car, worked in Michigan, rented a car, made an entire Thanksgiving dinner ... lots of stuff. Started learning to hoop. Woke up in my own puke, in my car. THAT was a nice one. Ugh.
2.) Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
N/A, and I intend to keep it that way.
3.) Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, thank goodness.
4.) Did anyone close to you die?
See above.
5.) What countries did you visit?
Canada, for a few hours. Would've gone again, but I didn't have my passport the second time.
6.) What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A job I can actually save money with. Of course, I should've been able to do that this summer. I don't exactly know what happened there.
7.) What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
No particular date. The month of October was pretty important, though, what with the whole Seattle discovery/closure thing.
8.) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Becoming single and mostly okay with it.
9.) What was your biggest failure?
Getting totally smashed where I used to work and making a complete ass of myself. Twice.
10.) Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got my left hand stuck in a pulley at work... didn't break anything, but it took a couple of months before I had all the feeling back in my fingers. Ooh, and cavities. Can't forget the dental hygiene.
11.) What was the best thing you bought?
I'd say the plane ticket to Seattle, but I wouldn't've bought that if I hadn't gone to Michigan, so I'd say train tickets to Michigan, but I had to drive to the train station, so I suppose it's gas, but if I'd been sober the whole time in Michigan I wouldn't've wound up in Seattle, so I'd probably better say Rogue Hazelnut Rum. It tastes kinda like tequila, which doesn't help ANYTHING, given that I'm better at drinking tequila than I am at drinking rum. I used to be better at rum, and then I got too good and had to stop. Don't give me rum. Ever.
Unless it's in a mojito.
12.) Whose behavior merited celebration?
That'd probably have to be
d-m-v. Dealt with bedbugs, a move, a weird job situation and the death of a loved one and still had time to listen to me be crazy. Holy shit.
13.) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Mine, duh.
14.) Where did most of your money go?
Food and travel.
15.) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting another job on a ship. Having an excellent lay or ten. Certain seasonal gifts I got were particularly nice *g*
16.) What song will always remind you of 2007?
"Here's to [insert name here], here's to [insert name here], here's to [insert name here], s/he's a horse's ass. S/he's the meanest, s/he sucks a horse's penis, here's to [insert name here], s/he's a horse's ass." Either that or anything by the Juxtaposers or Jim's Myth, particularly the one about the "bullet breasts of the streamlined age".
17.) Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. Happier or sadder?
No idea. But I'd have to guess physiologically I'm sadder--I've tended much more towards depression lately than I have in a while-- while as far as other aspects of my life are concerned I guess I'm generally happier.
II. Older or wiser?
Not an either/or. Gotta say both.
III. Thinner or fatter?
I think I'm about the same, but people keep asking me if I've lost weight.
IV. Richer or poorer?
I never have any money, but at least right now I only owe the credit company instead of the credit company and my Dad.
18.) What do you wish you'd done more of?
Being confident and assertive in all ways, including telling the truth .
19.) What do you wish you'd done less of?
Feeling like a I'm screwup when I'm not, crying. I should regret the drinking, but most of that stuff I don't remember too well :P
20.) How did you spend Christmas?
At my parent's house, the usual family gathering and whatnot. And trying to get a paper done.
21.) How did you spend New Year’s?
Trying to get a paper done. I'm taking a break right now to do this.
22.) Did you fall in love in 2007?
Maybe with a city. Maybe.
23.) How many one-night stands?
Doesn't count as a one-night stand if you fuck 'em again! Does it count if you're broken up with the person when you do it?
24.) What was your favorite TV program?
Doctor Who, the L-Word, or Firefly.
25.) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah.
26.) What was the best book you read?
No idea. I don't remember titles well.
27.) What was your greatest musical discovery?
What singing right really feels like. Still working on reliably producing it.
28.) What did you want and got?
Utilikilt! A job on a boat. Hot sex.
29.) What did you want and not get?
Incidental stuff like a particular pair of boots.
30.) What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't play favorites.
31.) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Hell if I even remember. Nothing spectacular or fun, apparently. 23.
32.) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less with the worrying.
33.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Same ol' same ol'.
34.) What kept you sane?
N/A
35.) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None.
36.) What political issue stirred you the most?
No idea. But my housemate's working for Obama for America.
37.) Who did you miss?
I missed Daniel. Or I thought I did. Now I miss me, whoever that is.
38.) Who was the best new person you met?
Hard to say... It's at least a 6-way tie.
39.) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Running away can be totally worth it.
40.) Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Love when you can, cry when you have to,
be who you must, it's all part of the plan.
Await your arrival with simple survival,
and one day we'll all understand.
One day, we'll all understand.
Happy New Year!
