okay,

july 18-aug 8: macau/hk/chinaaaaa

lets talk about how i took the wrong bus (#18) and almost went to the macau-china border, instead of my grandma’s office. and how i met a man and asked for directions, but he smiled and said he’s not from here and started speaking in fluent mandarin, asking if i was from the mainland. i politely shook my head and said, "i’m not from mainland." so he asked where i was from, and i replied with "canada" and his reaction to my reply was "how in the world did you end up here?"

speaking of grandma, she is truly the best cook ever, and whip out some of the most delicious Chinese meals. i told her one night while we're eating dinner that she should start a restuarant, and all her patients (she is a doctor) can be her customers as well!

hong kong: i was mostly in mong kok and causeway bay. but that was enough to make me feel like an ant. there are millions of people. i wonder how i will feel once i'm in even bigger cities...

haha, i love taking the MTR in hk! i took this picture mostly cause i was very amused at the man and how he just stood there for a good ten minutes. but also, his hat is veryyyyy cool.

china: spent a night at a village. quite fun, though my cousins and i saw a VERY HUGE SPIDER THE SIZE OF MY PALM behind the headboard of the bed. WE ALL FREAKED OUT, cousin #1 suggested he would kill it with his sandal, cousin #2 then proceeded to telling us a story of how his teacher killed a big spider and tiny little baby spiders came crawling out to avenge its mother/father's death, cousin #3 who is my sister's age was obviously scared to death. as for me...i stood outside of the bedroom looking in, because i was SO TERRIFIED.

aug 9-11 was spent in da lat, its mostly nature, pretty typical postcard scenary, naturally the dominating colour scheme is green, with the occasional vivid colours that belonged to pretty flowers. a lot of pictures from da lat looked more or less the same.

the man in the red was a tourist, and prior to this picture, he was standing all alone in the middle smiling and looking so ecstatic.

i really wanted to bring one of these potted cactus home to canada :(

hmm also while i was walking down the streets of macau, i had this crazy urge of wanting to buy Anita a japanese style umbrella, of wood and rice paper. alas, i could not find one :(

anyway this weekend i'll be going to the beach! and then it's good bye and back home to canada, ugh...that gruelling 16 something hours on a flight ..will be..pure torture.
