nothing like threats of gang rape to ease my worried mind...

Happy Canada Day?!?
I think not.

Allegations of Assault and Threats of Gang Rape by Police During the G20 -- CBC NEWS

"Four journalists have filed complaints with Ontario's police watchdog, alleging physical assaults and threats of sexual violence by police during the Toronto G20 summit, their lawyer says." ...

"the Montreal-based freelance journalist for the Dominion was covering a group of demonstrators who were detained by police in downtown Toronto on Sunday afternoon when she said she was verbally abused, arrested and taken to the detention centre.

"So you think you're a journalist. You won't be a journalist after we bring you to jail," the 29-year-old recounted an officer saying to her in her complaint. "You're going to be raped. We always like the pretty ones. We're going to wipe the grin off your face when we gang bang you. We know how the Montreal girls roll."

Miller alleged one of the arresting officers repeated the threat when she was at the detention centre. She was released about 12 hours later without any charges."

Notice, CBC NEWS, not some crackpot paper, not youtube... and I would believe it. They told my friend when they arrested her she looked like a boy, that no guys would want her looking like that. The pack of full grown, uniformed men I passed made sure I noticed that I was small, they made sure I was intimidated, they made sure I knew which of us had the power. Women of Canada, these are your RCMP. This is what they are to protect you from. If you tolerate this, turn a blind eye, the message is clear... the message becomes "sometimes it is okay." This, is never.. repeat, NEVER okay.
So yes, Happy Canada Day, Well just tie a bow on me! <-- imagine this said with so much sarcasm, my teeth rattled when I said it.

No wearing red this year. I am continuing my head-to-toe black for the remainder of the week... Since saturday, I've not worn a single colour lighter than dark blue (in mourning... will continue until I don't feel that way anymore)

Today there will be no paper flags for me, there will be no fireworks, no sitting on the beach, no singing of my national anthem.
I am not proud to be a Canadian today. I am not proud of our country today. I'm not proud of it ever.
