I completed two books recently, Wicked and Son of a Witch, both by Gregory Maguire.
I had been thinking about reading these two books for some time now, except that I can't seem to get off my lazy arse to 1) borrow them from the library 2) buy them. So. What happened was, I went to Japan, visited USJ Osaka, hit the 'Land of Oz' attraction and watched a shortened version of the broadway musical. In Japanese.
Thus, I decided that I really should read those two books, after I got back to Singapore.
Wicked had a more consistent time flow, but the nature of Son of a Witch is that of memories and dreams, so I guess the jumbled-ness of the second book is accounted for. Amusing read, both of them, but sadly, they didn't make their way to my 'can be read again x 100' list. Like the Harry Potter books, by the way. These two books certainly put one's perspective of Oz in a new light, and like all books which get the government involved in one way or another, there are some dry moments too. But it shed interesting viewpoints, and can be considered for a lazy afternoon read.
In other news, w-inds. is releasing a new single called 'Beautiful Life'! :D The PV was amusing, and Ryohei, oh, Ryohei. You certainly never change, do you? The semi-shy, semi-bold, full of confidence and doused with insecurity look. Keita's new hairdo is funky. Took a while to get used to it, though. Ryuichi is still as adorable as ever.
Work is still a bore. Nothing new there.
Fiction-wise, I'm currently working on a Tenipuri AU fic. Big time AU, too. I'm not sure what started it, except that Fuji-muse just kind of attacked me a while back and I'm suffering the aftereffects like I've been infected with rabies or something. Except that it has no cure. =__= It might surface one day, yes. I'm highly doubtful since it took me two months to decide what will happen (aside from the instantenous character casting and main storyline, etc. since the boys could not make up their minds) and finish one prologue and the first chapter. Now, completing the rest of the fic will depend largely on my will-power and attention-span, by which all of you would know by now how *coughs* unreliable they are. However, being hardworking for once, I've been smuggling time off to write bits and pieces of the fic daily. Of course, there are also lots of bits and pieces being thrown away even as I write (so it's more like writing two chapters but shorning until I'm left with one.)
The prologue might be posted soon. Or maybe not. Depends on how much I write before I cave in and start posting. We shall see.
All other fics are dead; I've already buried them and stamped down the dirt so that they won't come crawling out of their graves any time soon.
One of the other fandom interests currently is Katekyo Hitman!Reborn, which I still have not felt the urge to fic for (since I have recently bought myself enough doujinshi to last for the year) but I really can't tell.
TYL!Dino looks mmmm, good. So does TYL!Squalo. In fact, Squalo looks REALLY good. Men in their thirties shouldn't look this good, I say. That's illegal. On top of the fact that I have a weakness for men with long hair, yes I do. All members of the TYL!cast of KHR look drool-worthy, but I'm holding out! Especially on men in their thirties! TYL!Hibari is also uhhh, really cool. In fact, all of those kids turned out pretty good ten years down the road. But I miss twenty years later Lambo. Crap. Must repeat the litany on 2-D men in their thirties.
