Day Five of my Maui Vacation
Still so sunburned...I don't think this'll ever heal. It was cloudy, so we drove to the top of Haleakala today. Mom forgot to get gas. Half way up she realizes we barley have 1/4 tank left. In a mustang...that's a bad thing. So we're driving with hardly any gas, up a mountain, and it begins to rain. A lot. Then visibility goes away...and there's nothing but fog. And rain. And....ohmygawd...the car in front of us!!! We almost rear-ended that car so many times...But then...as suddenly as it appeared, the fog went away. And there was sunlight, and it was beautiful...and there wasn't a cloud in the sky...Oh wait...there was, we had just driven over them. It wasn't fog we drove through, it was a cloud. COOL!!! There were hitchikers on the side of the mountain...we decided to pick them up. It was a young couple from Canada, going up to go camping in the craters at the top of the volcano. They were very nice. They had been to quite a few different places. They weren't sun burned...new to the island I guessed. I was right. Today was their first day here...I told them to wear a lot of sun block. The craters were amazing...I got some great pictures...but it was windy, very very windy, and mom was cold, so we didn't stay long. But I'm defenately looking forward to seeing how the pictures turn out. We drove into Lahina again (after getting gas) and went and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. Then went shopping....ever noticed how all the stores in Maui are the same? I did. Ick...I was so burned out on shopping...although...I did find a really cute purse. We're leaving tomorrow...I'm sad to go, but looking forward to my own bed.
