MY HERO

The husband, from here on in this post to be referred to as 'MH, my hero', had a hum dinger of a day in his classroom this afternoon.
Before he started teaching, MH worked in a center for head injured, and before that as a manager for a day program for disabled adults. So he has had to deal with a few med. emergencies before.

Today, one of his 3rd grade boys, J, had a grand mal seizure during reading. This poor babe had no known conditions so it was a complete shock and scare for the entire class. Immediately he had the appointed class operator call up to the office to report that they needed help-right now, he also sent up a runner to make sure they knew the seriousness of the situation. The principal came shuffling to the room and said..well I think we need to call mom and dad and send him home...home....HOME?!

MH is normally very calm cool and collected, so (remembering he had about 40 little eyes on him) he gritted through his teeth and said "I am insisting you call 911- right now." Oh, yeah. NINE ONE ONE...ohhhhh...fuckering DER!! You don't send a kid home with a note saying he just had just been convulsing uncontrollably, with all kinds of body fluids spewing forth!
The ambulance was called and MH insisted on riding along to lesson the trauma on J.
It turns out he had a fever of 102.6 and that the seizure was indeed a major one. The parents arrived about 20 minutes later to the hospital and from the last report J is doing better but was "so glad Mr Hall was there to ride with me because it was scary"

To top it off, when he got back to school, MH went to the office to pick up our waiting kids, and heard from everyone that "the school did such a great job in handling the situation"
No, THEY didn't..my husband did!
