We have a home warrenty that usually covers all of our major repairs - and the water heater was our first 'bust'....they'll pay for a single walled heater - no permits, no adding a pan etc (things needed for code)...essentially to put in a water heater that is up to code from the guys they sent I pay about $650...and the warrenty co pays almost nothing. And we still have a pretty inefficient water heater.
We were mad and told the insurance to 'cash out' - essentially give us teh couple hundred they were willing to pay and we'd decide what to do on our own (prolly a good choice since I wasn't impressed with the water heater guy they sent).
Now we need to do something QUICKLY. Anyone put in a tankless water heater? Becky - I think you looked at it and decided not to. Did you get a quote?
Crap. I probably should have just paid that guy - but I did NOT want to.
