MoMA

Another incredible NYC museum.

MoMA = Museum of Modern Art. But don't worry, they interpret "modern" very loosely. As in everything from the Impressionists onward. So, fortunately, my three favorite artistic movements are included: Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Surrealism. And are they ever.

Think of the first paintings that come to mind for these movements. Persistence of Memory perhaps? Monet's Water Lillies? Van Gogh's The Starry Night? Yeah. They're at MoMA. And you can get close enough to see the brush strokes. Dali's canvas is very flat and smooth, btw, while Van Gogh's is a wild variety of thicknesses. You can see through to the canvas in some spots. The paint's a good quarter inch/ cm think in others.

I wanna go back. Now.

Now Reading: Nothing? I finished Rebel Angels yesterday. And I'll eventually finish at least some of the nonfiction I've got in progress.
CD in the Car: Snow Patrol's Final Straw. No, cancel that. Franz Ferdinand.
On I Tunes: Listening to a sort by song length. Very freaky. Last four artists: REM, Jimmy Buffet, John Denver and the Beatles. Currently playing: A song from The Secret Garden soundtrack.
