I say "Sequestered Mansion" because they have us Finalists (plus a parent and a tutor for each of the contestants who is under 18, plus one of the show's producers, plus some other assorted chaperones) living in this big gorgeous mansion in LA, and our every movement is supervised. We can't talk to the media, except for sanctioned appearances and interviews; we can pretty much only go on approved chaperoned group outings. No alcohol is allowed, even for those of us over 21; no boys in girls' bedrooms and vice versa (and no one has a bedroom of their own anyway), and no singing after 10pm. But that makes it easy to focus on the competition, at least, and we do have a chef, a pool and jacuzzi, weight machines, pool table, big TVs, and really nice furniture.
This week is Country week, which is a bit of a challenge for me. I like some country music, but I listen more to R&B, Pop, and Gospel. Plus, one of the main pieces of advice the judges gave me was to be sure to choose the right song. They think that's why America doesn't seem to like my singing as much (so far, anyway) as they, the judges, do.
