Yay!! Good News here for once - My Temp job went permanent!! Yes, as of Feb 22, 2006 I am finally a full time employed gal! I even got to hand in my two weeks notice at the second job! Yes, I am going to have a mostly normal schedule again! That is, after this week. After hearing of my resignation, my manager (who is not loved by even the customers) changed tis week's schedule from Tues, Thurs and Sat nite to Sun, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat nite...every last drop.
You all have no idea, after waiting 4 years and 4 months, I finally have some security. I can finally relax, I don't have to wait to save for a month to buy a magazine, or walk an extra 3 blocks EVERY time I want to withdraw money from an ATM (no exagerration, every penny has been accounted for). Granted, I don't plan on throwing out all my coupons or throwing my money away on ATM fees, it just feels good that I don't have to put the item back on the shelf because I forgot to bring the coupon, now I can get it and save the coupon for next time. Wow.
Oh, and getting some time back to my self. For the last 9 months solid (until I started requesting days off just because) I have been working an extra 20 - 30 hours a week. Last night I tried to sleep more than 5 hours and couldn't do it. Kept waking up. Maybe now, I'll be able to recharge with an occasional 8 hours (that was hard to type, amost felt unnatural). AND now I can get back online, to my passions and my friends. Thank you all for standing by me. It means the world to me.
Now for the bitter/sweet - My first week of work. After being in the department for almost 2 years, and in my current position for almost 10 months, my first week felt like a disaster, like I was being hazed, like my boss was thinking 'please don't let this be my biggest mistake, hiring her'. Granted, we were off on Monday, I was at orientation most of Tuesday, worked the second job most of the week and the woman I ride in with called out sick Thursday and Friday, leaving me to get there on my own on a schedule I am not familiar with (bus, train). It was Murphy's Law. Like the universe had to flip me one more bird.
Time to shake all that off and look forward to a brand new start!
