Written for a challenge at
fictionland. We had to take one line from the previous drabble and write our own using that line somewhere in the story. These are very random and I post them "as is". Meaning there are probably some errors but this is how they went up for the challenge. They're pretty pointless.
1. I watched her move around her lab in a fluid motion. I figured she could find her way around with her eyes shut without bumping into one single item. But that was Carter. She was perfect that way.
"Sir!" The surprise in her voice made me grin.
"Hey, Carter, can I talk to you?" My voice didn't come out as even as I would have liked it to.
She apparently noticed because her eyes narrowed. "Of course, sir." She motioned for me to enter, and god help me, I immediately thought of bolting. Coward.
"Sir?"
I sighed, might as well get to the point. "I've been reassigned."
2. The look on the colonel's face was priceless, Sam thought. The kiss had certainly caught her off-guard but she had enjoyed it. But now she was sure he was going to bolt. Or be sick. And she couldn't help but laugh.
That got him frowning, deep furrows creasing his forehead. She waited for him to say something but he just stared at her with a horrified look on his face. Guess it was up to her.
"Sir," she started with a sigh.
"Carter-" he said at the same time.
They stared. Damn alien weddings, Sam thought... always had them doing things they wouldn't normally. And liking them, too.
3. Jack frowned at Daniel. Frowned with all his might so that his bad mood might permeate the thick skull of his friend. Daniel, for his part, seemed oblivious to this action and continued to merrily work at gathering artifacts from the ruins.
Jack sighed. The rain slid down his neck, soaking him from the inside and out. His boots sunk into the thick mud that seemed to cake the entire planet. And Jack's legs all the way to his knees. Another sigh.
"It's not that bad, Jack."
"Remind me why we're here again..."
"I won the rock, paper, scissors, remember."
4. "Don't worry." Maybourne's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I've got a plan."
Somehow that instilled even less confidence in Jack. He narrowed his eyes at the ex-colonel. "Of course you do," he muttered, pushing past the other man.
"Really, trust me."
Jack rounded on him, drawing to his full height. Maybourne took a slight step back. "Trust is the last thing on my mind when it comes to you."
Slowly, a smile inched up Maybourne's face. "Jack, after everything we've been through..."
"Especially after everything we've been through."
"Well, I guess you don't really have much choice this time around." He stalked off into the alien jungle.
Jack sighed. Not much choice.
5. The alien wedding ceremony was beautiful, Daniel, thought. Romantic and simple was the way to go. Despite everything that had happened he couldn't help but smile when he thought back to Abydos and Sha're and their "wedding".
His yes drifted over to his friends. Teal'c stood at attention, his gaze taking in everything, watching for anything suspect. Jack and Sam were... trying their hardest not to look at each other, to not let the event pull at their hearts. It wasn’t fair. Daniel would never understand the military mindset that kept them apart. Their eyes darted towards each other, grins pulling at their lips. Just not fair.
6. Jack closed his eyes and shoved his hands deeper into his pockets, his fingers sliding over the smooth velvet box. His thumb methodically slicked the lid open and closed in a futile attempt to cover his nervous energy. Daniel didn't seem to buy it. He glanced at Jack from the corner of his eye.
"What's wrong with you?"
Jack just shrugged, his thought pulled back to the ring in his pocket. What if she said no? The though nearly stopped his heart. Twelve years was a long time to wait. Then the door opened. Carter smiled brightly at them, and he knew... knew that this was right.
7. As soon as she entered the lavishly decorated tent Sam knew she was in trouble. Two guards dressed in purple shifts of fabric grabbed her by the upper arms, forcing her to her knees. Across from her the colonel was being held in a similar position.
"What. Did. You. Do?" Sam hissed.
"Why do you assume I did something?" His innocence couldn't be more false.
Sam narrowed her eyes at him. "Because you're the only one here and things were going great until..."
The colonel grimaced. "I might have-"
Just then the curtains parted and the kind entered. "Ah, good, both parties are here. Let the nuptials begin!"
8. The battle lasted for days but ended just as swiftly as it started. They hauled Jack's battered body onto the pel'tac of the mother ship. He sunk wearily but gratefully to his knees in front of the ruling Goa'uld, too tired to care about his pride. His head hung low, chin touching his chest.
No prisoners were taken…except one. That was what he had heard as they dragged him through the gold colored walls. He was all that was left. His will to keep fighting drifted away with the souls of his slaughtered friends.
9. He was bored. That was a bad. He tended to do things when he was bored, things that made Carter mad at him. Or Daniel. Teal'c usually just raised an eyebrow. That could mean many different things. Jack liked to think of it as amusement at his antics. Daniel insisted it was barely contained annoyance and one of these days Teal'c would wallop him.
Jack paused outside of Carter's lab. How did he get here? Right-bored. Carter looked busy. All her doohickies were lit up and she was leaning over her laptop, her nose nearly touching the screen. Maybe he should go bother Daniel instead.
"Hey, watcha doin', Carter?"
10. Jack leaned back in his chair on his deck. The night was cool but the company warming. Across from him Daniel perched on the railing and Teal'c took up another deck chair, his usual strait back relaxing into the worn wood. He looked... relaxed.
Carter appeared from around the corner, a cake in her hands. She held it out to him with an apprehensive look. It was chocolate, and a bit lumpy. But chocolate. His mouth watered.
"You make this?" She nodded. "Excellent."
"It's not that great-" she started to say.
"It's perfect, Carter." Just like her, he thought with a smile.
