Hello all - somehow and for some reason LJ deleted me from all my friend update notifications. So my apologies for thinking LJ died. I see it is still very much somewhat alive! And so am I, hahaha.

ETA: Floods finished, city cleaned up, now covered in snow. And cold. No: COLD.

The weather here can't make up its mind what it wants to do. It's gloves and muffler time in the morning when I walk out the door around 6:00 a.m., then it gets into the 70s. Just heard them mention the possibility of 80 degree weather this weekend.

I'm going to be in Chicago at the tail end of March/start of April for a conference. Wonder what flights from there to Calgary are like.... I'll have to do some research, because if I took a couple of vacation days at the end of the conference, I might be able to come for a short visit then. Would certainly like to!

Oh, "Flying Dutchman" is nice! I've seen the San Francisco Opera do it. As for me, I have a mini-series (3 Saturday matinee performances) for the San Francisco Ballet starting in February, and I'm thinking about trying to go to Chicago to see Lyric Opera's "Rusalka". It's the opera version of "The Little Mermaid", and it's an opera I've never heard/seen.

And before I forget, I mailed a Christmas package off to you and Laura on Nov. 27th. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to arrive.

Cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon? Haha, that sounds like a Calgary summer. ;-) I'm in Edmonton this weekend, visiting Dragan, and it's pretty cold, though I didn't go outside all day. Laura couldn't make it because she's working. :-( But it got up to 8C today in Calgary, so I bet all the snow (and there's LOTS of it!) has melted! Or just turned slushy in time for it to start freezing and creating more havoc. :-S

If you find anything at the beginning of April, let me know... I don't think that should be a busy time for me. :-)

Flying Dutchman, love it. Saw it in Moscow at the New Bolshoi and it was done in pseudo-modern setting and the girl's spinning wheel song was done on stationary bikes. I nearly died!!!

Aw, we'll keep an eye out! Thank you!

Stationary bikes? *boggles*

I did look into flights, but it's cheaper and faster to fly to Calgary from L.A. than from Chicago. So scratch that idea.

Hub with most connections to Calgary? Phoenix. Because, well, think about it - where do Canadians want to go in the winter? Certainly not a city that is just as cold! ;-)
