Relentless for a Cure

Tomorrow's a big day for my training, but not as big as NEXT weekend. Tomorrow I do 18 miles for training. Next week, we do 20 miles, our longest we ever go before the marathon. It's just over a month away and I am still behind in my fundraising, though. It's really hard to train with a smile and the determination to finish when the fundraising isn't even there. But, I made a committment and I always follow through with my committments. If any of you have it in you to donate ANYTHING, I would most definitely be thankful. I know a lot of you said you've been meaning to donate but just haven't gotten around to it. Now's the time. Cancer waits for nobody and if you don't think it could ever happen to you, think again. Cancer knows no color, age, ethnicity, gender, or financial information. It just knows how to kill, and killing it does slowly and painfully. Many people think, "Oh, so-and-so will donate and so I'm covered." No, unfortunately that's not how it happens. Everyone thinks the other person's going to make that donation and none ever get made.

I won't be doing this marathon-thing again. I would like to go out with a bang. I don't ever ask for much, but this time I have to. Funny thing is, I am not even asking for something that goes directly for myself. It goes for those with cancer, those who NEED the treatments and the research to make them, hopefully, better. The donations are tax-deductible. This will be the last time I make a post asking straight-up for donations. It's a hard thing for me to do and I know most people don't like to read it and quickly scroll right by. That's their right. But, it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

If you feel inclined to donate, you can do so here. I wouldn't be so passionate about it had my daughter not experienced it first hand. No, she didn't die and I would hate to think that'd be what it took to get a donation. Yes, there are children and adults, just like you and me, that are dying every.single.day from this horrible disease. If we can make just the slight bit of difference, then I can sleep better at night knowing I did my part. Thanks for reading, my friends.
