This weekend I moved. I was living in an apartment on center, but we're only supposed to stay there a year. I had met a nice family at church who also work on center. They have eight kids (!). The parents and the four youngest children are going to Cameroon, Africa for 12-15 months and while they are gone I'm renting a room. Their oldest daughter is a little older than me and lives in the basement apartment with her husband and 6 month old baby girl. The second oldest daughter is a few years younger than me and in college right now. She has a room, I have a room, and another girl who is a pilot/aviation mechanic and who needed a place to stay for 6 months is here.
Its a really nice place, we have a tree house, trampoline, pool (read: mud pit with deck built so you can jump in, they call it "cappichino lake" because thats what it looks like), a real lake with ducks, 6 free range chickens, an area for a garden, an australian cattle dog named Skippy, wirless internet access, cable tv, and I have a room almost as big as my entire old apartment! Of course though, my room is over the garage so its a little chilly. Its going down to 18 tonight.. brrrr! There is no flooring in my room either, plywood boards that have been painted. The two teenage girls who lived there were trying to "floor" the room with puzzles from wall to wall. Their parents thought it would be best to put them up, so instead they decided to create some artwork on the floor.
It's only 1.7 miles to where I work, so I can still walk to work. Or drive if I'm lazy or running late. The other girl who is here for 6 months also plans on walking in, so I'll have a walking partner. Very nice.
I spent all weekend working. But I'm in better spirits than I have been for a long time. I think this is going to work out real well.
How are things with you?
Oh.. and I just remembered one other thing.. there is several dozen homemade ice cream sandwiches in the freezer that I've been told need to be eaten up soon.. needless to say I've been hard at work at that :) Homemade vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two homemade chocolate chip cookies. Yum! Oh, and I have an extra bed in my room if anyone wants to visit. I promise all the ice cream you can eat. Hehe.
