American Idol, Coldstones, and a voice lesson or two

I just got done watching all of the American Idol performances from last night on You Tube...and they were all exceptional! Honestly, Blake was the weakest. I do think that this top 6 is maybe even stronger than last years. I almost wish that the competition could end now because I like them all so much...well, except for Lakisha and Chris. So, we make a Top 4 for Melinda, Jordin, Phil :-D, and Blake. I'm so glad that Phil's done so well for the past couple of weeks. I really liked him before, but he was doing pretty rocky for a while. He sounds amazing right now. Turns out, he was a voice major at Lee University, a Christian lib. arts school similar to Houghton, so I think that makes me like him even more. Melinda's absolutely amazing though, and then Jordin...well, if I had to choose someone to actually win, I think I'd choose her. She also happens to be a Christian, but besides that, she's absolutely gorgeous, has an incredible voice, and is simply amazing. Plus, my voice teacher says that Jordin reminds her of me somehow. Not sure exactly how, but nice compliment anyway!

I would have watched American Idol last night, but I went to hang out with Emily after I got done w/my rehearsals yesterday afternoon. We went to Tully's for dinner, then bummed around a bit, went to Walmart to look at games, to COLDSTONE's for ice cream (which I had to bring home with me and just finished...DELICIOUS!!!), and then her friend (my facebook friend :-p) Bill came over and we watched Proof. Very interesting movie. I really liked it. Made me realize how much I don't remember about math. :-p

So, I have class and a concert to go to tonight, so I won't be able to see the special American Idol thing that will be on tonight with my boyfriends! :o( I decided to post some of their songs for anyone who'd care to watch/listen in advance though.

Here's Josh's "You are Loved"...one of my favorite songs on his "Awake" cd.

And here's Il Divo's "All By Myself." My favorite is Sebastion, the one who sings first.

I thought about throwing another Il Divo up there...there's one where they're singing "Without You" and Sebastion is crying through it. Very cute. If you want to see it though (which I'm sure you won't :-p), then you can find it on You Tube.

ANYWAY, I should really get a move along, as I have a lesson and coaching at 3:30 in Buffalo, and I've just been bumming around all morning. I actually had a lesson yesterday, but I get to have another one today so that we can work w/my accompanist. Hopefully I can finally get all of my tempos nailed down for the one aria that I'm singing and for this Schubert piece that I'm doing. After juries in 2 weeks, I'll probably start working solely on my recital pieces during the rest of the spring/summer. Then, recital should be in September sometime.

Alright, happy day one and all.
